Hiram E. Leonard Diary, September 2 - 8, 1874
“2nd Wednesday some light showers I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 and went to bed at 9 ½ sick with the rheumatism Kenyon dug some potatoes today.
“3rd Thursday fine weather but dry I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 and went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick with the rheumatism & cold.
“4th Friday A fine day but some cloudy & a tremendious shower in the evening between 7 & 8 & rained more or less all the evening a grand rain I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 and went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with rheumatism.
“5th Saturday Some cloudy & showerey I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick with rheumatism.
“6th Sunday Some cloudy in the morning but a fine pleasant day I did my choars was at home the most of the day went up in the middle of day & aproned my lambs came back wrote some & wrote a letter to F. Wellmans wife etc went to bed about 9 nearly sick with a cold & the rheumatism.
“7th Monday fine hot dry weather I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold etc rheumatism.
“8th Tuesday A hot dry day thurmometer from 90 to 100 I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ sick rheumatism.”
