“July 1st Wednesday A fine hot dry day I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick etc.
“2nd Thursday fine dry hot weather I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold & the rheumatism etc.
“3rd Friday fine hot dry weather I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick with the rheumatism.
“4th Saturday A fine hot day with quite a wind & the dust thick I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold & the rheumatism Frank etc at P Hinze They had a 4th of July Sunday School selebration at Mannings Grove today & quite a number were there so some said Wm J Manning delivered a speech ________ & Hooker spoke Frank & George out.
“5th Sunday A still hot dry day I did my choars was at the farm & round home the most of the day went to bed about 9 nearly sick with the rheumatism Thurmometer at 103.
“6th Monday A fine hot dry day I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 and went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold & the rheumatism Watson commenced haying on mine.
“7th Tuesday fine hot dry weather I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 and went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with rheumatism Frank Wellman went to Chicago.”
