Hiram E. Leonard Diary, September 19 - 25, 1872
“19th Thursday A fine weather for Sept I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 tiard & sick.
“20th Friday A fine pleasant day I did my choars choared round some closed up at about 8 and went to bed about 9 ½ Caroline went to Naperville with Pelham & got some carpeting for bedroom hers.
“21st Saturday fine pleasant day & evening I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 and went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick Caroline & Walla went to Naperville to see Warners Circus & Caravan & side shows they went in stage drawn by Perry between 9 & 10.
“22nd Sunday A rainey morning began to rain this morning at 1 ½ or 2 oclock & rained pretty steddy until 7 or 8 oclock this morning I did my choars choared round some wrote some etc went to bed about 9 nearly sick, cleared off some & quite pleasant in afternoon Emma Stone came here rained the most of the night.
“23rd Monday A cloudy morning but cleared off during the day I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick T Pelhams wife had a son born today.
“24th Tuesday fine weather but some cloudy & cool I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 and went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out.
“25th Wednesday rather a cloudy day & rained night I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick French man mooved into John Pomeroys house today.”
