Hiram E. Leonard Diary, September 12 - 18, 1872
“12th Thursday rather a fine day some cloudy I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick Henry Bartholomew & Miss Damon was married today at Aurora & started about noon for Omaha.
“13th Friday A fine cool day I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ¼ Caroline & Emma Stone, Walla & Frenches girle went out to Oak Park to Mr Clarks on the cars and I stayed alone, they went from Clarks to Chicago.
“14th Saturday A fine cool day I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed at about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick & Agueish Caroline & Emma Stone & the children came home from Oak Park tonight in stage.
“15th Sunday A fine cool day & beautiful I did my choars went to the farm & choared some and went over the corn etc it looked verry weedy and half of it was worth but little I went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick Emma Barrus came up with Olin Resseguie, Barrus & Charles went by in his buggy.
“16th Monday pretty fine weather I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 and went to bed at 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick.
“17th Tuesday fine growing weather I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 and went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick.
“18th Wednesday fine weather for Sept I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 and went to bed at 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick.”
