Hiram E. Leonard Diary, February 1 - 7, 1871

February, 1st Wednesday  pretty fine weather for winter  I did my choars was at the office all day a choaring round closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick & worne out.

2nd Thursday  A fine clear pleasant day for Candlemas  I did my choars was round the store all day choaring round closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 nearly sick.

3rd Friday  fine weather for Feb, some sleighing  I did my choars was round the office all day choaring round closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick.

4th Saturday  A fine thawey day  I did my choars choared round the office all day closed up at 8 ¼ & went to bed at 10 nearly sick & worne out  the baby cryed till after 11 & Caroline got up 3 times  I got a letter from Frank Wellman today  Clark & wife came to J Pollards & then went to Jerry.

5th Sunday  rather a fine cloudy morning  And began to snow from North East about noon pretty fast & blew pretty hard and snowed conciderable during afternoon & a pretty tough afternoon  Clark & wife came to Jont Pollards today about noon, I was round the office & house all day a choaring & writing sum etc, Carpenter called here about noon stormed the most of afternoon  I went to bed about 9 nearly sick.

6th Monday  fine weather for Feb.  I did my choars was round the office all day a choaring closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick etc.

7th Tuesday  fine winter weather with about 2 feet of snow on the ground & drifted some  I did my choars was round the office the most of the day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick & worne out.”
