Hiram E. Leonard Diary, December 28, 1870 - January 3, 1871
“28th Wednesday fine weather for winter I did my choars closed up at 8 and went to bed at 9 nearly sick after choaring round.
“29th Thursday fine weather for winter I did my choars choared round the store closed up at 8 and went to bed at 9 nearly sick.
“30th Friday A fine pleasant day & thawed some I did my choars choared round the store closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 tiard & nearly sick [in margin] Frank Wellman came here in the stage at 11 ½ & stayed with me all night he had been in Chicago & round for near 2 months.
“31st Saturday A fine thawey day & warme I did my choars was round the office all day choaring closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 tiard & nearly sick with a cold, Frank Wellman was here all day & night.
“1st Sunday, January 1871 Elder McGregor preaches another year. A fine warm pleasant thawed day some cloudy & muddy I did my choars was round the office & house all day choaring went to Kenyons with F Wellman came back choared round closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick. Mrs Anesworth & Frank Wellman here at supper Kenyon was sick and could not come but was asked [in margin] Frank Wellman here all day & night except Kenyons 2 hours.
“2nd Monday fine winter weather I did my choars was at the office all day a choaring & closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick [in margin] George Cruso was married to a Finsh girle.
“3rd Tuesday fine weather for winter I did my choars was at the office all day choaring round closed up at 8 & went to bed 9 nearly sick.”
