Seraph Warren Holmes School was opened in 1913 as Warrenville’s elementary school, in the same year Seraph would have turned 100. The school replaced the one-room schoolhouse on Winfield Road. Elsie Hoy was appointed principal of the new school. In 1950 the building was expanded to make room for the community’s growing youth. Several additions and architectural changes were made over the next 40 years. The building was closed in 1991. In 1996 the school was demolished to make way for the new Warrenville Police Department.
