“29th Wednesday fine dry weather verry dry & more cool I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick.
“30th Thursday fine weather verry dry & more cool I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ sick with cold etc F Wellman came from Chicago.
“31st Friday fine pleasant & verry dry weather more cool I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick.
“August 1st Saturday A fine cool pleasant day & dry I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick etc George Sidwell started at 7 PM on a bote for Montreall Frank Wellman came to Winfield tonight at 11 or 12 oclock so H German says & he got up & left him in.
“2nd Sunday A fine pleasant dry day with a cool air I did my choars was round home all day and went to bed about 9 nearly sick with rheumatism Hurbat Beardsly & Maggie Fahey were married this afternoon by the Catholic Preast in Chicago, Frank Wellman came to Winfield tonight at 12 at night.
“3rd Monday fine hot weather & verry dry I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold & the rheumatism Hurbat Beardsly brought his wife home from Chicago to his fathers by Naperville, this afternoon about 6 oclock.
“4th Tuesday a pretty fine hot day & dry I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold etc I got W T Watson bull into my paster this forenoon.”
