Hiram E. Leonard Diary, October 14 - 20, 1874

14th Wednesday  fine weather, some cloudy  I did my choars was at home all day closed up at 8 and went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with rheumatism.

15th Thursday  rather fine cool dry weather  I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 and went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold & the rheumatism.

16th Friday  fine cool dry weather but some cloudy  I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 and went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick etc.

17th Saturday  A fine pleasant day & quite warm  I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick with the rheumatism & a cold  C M Reynolds the goldsmith came back to Perrys tonight after his things  Tarts son in law & wife came up tonight.

18th Sunday  A most beautiful day but cool & verry dry for the season  I did my choars was at home all day went to the farm, wrote & red some and went to bed at about 9.

19th Monday  fine warm dry weather  I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 and went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with the rheumatism.

20th Tuesday  fine dry warm weather  I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 and went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with the rheumatism & a cold  Grant the President Grants son was married to a Miss    this afternoon in Chicago at her fathers and went to St Louis on the evening trane.”
