“19th Thursday A fine hot dry day I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed at 10 tiard & nearly sick.
“20th Friday A hot dry day I did my choars and was round the office the most of the day closed up at 8 & went to bed about 10 nearly sick Gus Manning came to his fathers tonight.
“21st Saturday A verry hot dry day I did my choars choared round the store closed up at about 8 and went to bed about 10 sick with rheumtis etc Connell finished splitting my wood at door this afternoon Caroline and Emma Stone went Naperville in daytime & meeting in evening Theodore Watson came out home today.
“22nd Sunday cloudy & sprinkled a little in morning A hot dry day but some cloudy I did my choars was round home all day about sick had a diarea in afternoon went to bed between 4 and 12 sick Caroline & Emma Stone started for camp meeting about 9 ½ with John Hollister They went up near Saint Charles, the Redfieldites and got home 5 minutes to 12 oclock at night.
“23rd Monday fine dry weather & verry hot I did my choars choared round some closed at 8 & went to bed about 9 nearly sick.
“24th Tuesday fine hot dry weather I did my choars choared round the office some closed up at 8 & went to bed at 10 nearly sick with rheumatism etc thurmometer at near 100.
“25th Wednesday fine growing weather & verry hot I did my choars choared round the office some closed up at 8 & went to bed about 10 nearly sick thurmometer at about 100.”
