Hiram E. Leonard Diary, March 6 - 12, 1873
“6th Thursday A warm thawey day the weather grew fast & was muddy I did my choars etc closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold Caroline & Wallace went to Naperville to a donation for the Methodist Elder and got home ¼ before 12 Jud Graves at home.
“7th Friday A little more cool & cleared off windy I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold wind blew hard Judson Graves got home yesterday R B Pollard tried & sentenced to State Prison.
“8th Saturday rather a windy day but still pleasant night I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick with a cold.
“9th Sunday A cloudy morning began to snow about 10 squalled for an hour cleared off towards noon and was a pleasant afternoon I did my choars choared round some at other place wrote some letters etc went to bed about 9 I wrote to Washington for Caroline about land.
“10th Monday rather fine cool weather & dry I did my choars choared round some closed up about 8 and & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick with a cold.
“11th Tuesday fine cool March weather I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold Mrs Stone got back from Iowa today about 2 ½ walked from Winfield.
“12th Wednesday cool dry weather with March winds I did my choars choared round some closed up about 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold.”
