Hiram E. Leonard Diary, October 2 - 8, 1873
“2nd Thursday A fine cool dry day I did my choars was round the office all day making out my Post Office returns etc closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ sick A Fredenhagen had a fine wedding today & dance tonight at Barn there were about a dozen there Doc Waterman & Wm Wright & wife were there.
“3rd Friday rather a fine morning began to rain _______ noon & rained in afternoon & rained hard during the evening I did my choars was round the office all day making out my returns of post office closed up about 8 ¼ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick William Collings wife had a son born this morning about 5 S Billings a putting up a wind mill for S French.
“4th Saturday A cloudy damp muddy morning & day I did my choars choared round the office & making out my post office returns all day closed up at about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick & tiered out Mary Tart went up to French tonight.
“5th Sunday A cloudy damp day & sprinkled some about noon & showered some during the afternoon I did my choars & choared round some up at my place, wrote etc went to bed about 9 nearly sick & tiered out.
“6th Monday fine weather for Oct I did my choars choared round the office some closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick.
“7th Tuesday fine dry weather for the season I did my choars choared round the office some closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick Caroline & Mary went to Aurora by way of Naperville with Sebe French & got home about 2 or 3 oclock.
“8th Wednesday fine dry hot weather for the season I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick Mrs Stone came here from Naperville.”
