Hiram E. Leonard Diary, May 9 - 15, 1872
“9th Thursday quite warm & dry I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 and went to bed at about 10 tiard & nearly sick.
“10th Friday fine warm weather but dry cloudy and damp at night & sprinkled some in evening & rained during the night conciderable I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 10 nearly sick.
“11th Saturday A cloudy damp rainey morning & wet some all the forenoon & broak away some in the afternoon I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at about 9 tiard & nearly sick with a cold I saw a light tonight at Kenyons as I thought round his barn or house about one oclock tonight or tomorrow morning it was after the dog barked.
“12th Sunday A cloudy cool damp disagreeable day I did my choars choared round some went up to the farm after breckfust & back wrote some and was at the farm at night again went to bed about 9 nearly sick with a cold Emma Barrus came here Asa Townson came to Mr Kriners & brought old Mrs Barrus to see Barrus & the children they stopped in front of the store agoing home to see me, I went out to see the old lady a few moments set 3 goos eggs under hen.
“13th Monday fine weather for the season rather dry I did my choars choared round all day cloased up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold.
“14th Tuesday rather fine cloudy growing weather I did my choars choared round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick with a cold.
“15th Wednesday A cloudy rainey growing day I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick with a cold.”
