Hiram E. Leonard Diary, June 14 -20, 1871
“14th Wednesday fine growing weather with some showers & cool I did my choars was round the office a choaring closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick.
“15th Thursday fine cool growing weather I did my choars was road the office all day a choaring etc closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 tiard & nearly sick.
“16th Friday A fine pleasant day crops a growing finely I did my choars was round the office all day a choaring closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick [in margin] my pet cow that I milk took the bull tonight at milking time A festival at Meth Church tonight for McGregor, rais between 30 & 40 dols.
“17th Saturday A rainey morning had rained during the night I did some choars & went up in the rain to milk my cow at the farm as I left her up there last night, I found the cattle all in the road I found them milked & came back choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick & tiard, it cleared off in after noon.
“18th Sunday A fine pleasant morning I did my choars was round the house the most of the day took a nap etc went to bed about 9 nearly sick.
“19th Monday fine growing weather I did my choars choared round the office all day closed up at 8 and went to bed at 9 nearly sick.
“20th Tuesday rather a fine day for the season I did my choars choared round the office all closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 tiard & nearly sick, Jonas K Ball was found laying on the ground supposed to be drunk near his house he was carried in to his house & laid down & found the next morning to be ded supposed to of died in a fit.”
