HIram E. Leonard Diary, December 27, 1871 - January 2, 1872
“27th Wednesday fine weather for winter I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick & nearly tiard out. [in margin] rained some.
“28th Thursday fine winter weather I did my choars choared round went to Hoys about 9 ½ & got his buck lamb & put with Wallas sheep closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 tiard & nearly sick.
“29th Friday fine for winter thaws some I did my choars choared round the office closed up at 8 and went to bed at 9 nearly sick etc.
“30th Saturday A cloudy thawey day & mist some I did my choars choared round closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick & tiard.
“31st Sunday A cloudy thaw damp day I did my choars choared round all day fixed the sheep & pigs went to bed about 9 nearly sick A watch meeting tonight.
“January 1st Monday, 1872 A fine day I did my choars was round home all day except going to D Kenyons to supper at 4 oclock shut up at 8 & went to bed at 9 Emma Stone went to a ball to Danbe _______.
“2nd Tuesday fine weather for winter I did my choars choared round the office all day making out the P.O. returns closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 sick [in margin] meeting ________ night.”
