Hiram E. Leonard Diary, November 22 - 28, 1871
“22nd Wednesday pretty fine but cool & dry I did my choars choared round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 tiard & nearly sick.
“23rd Thursday fine weather but some cloudy & snowed tonight I did my choars choared round closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 sick.
“24th Friday 2 or 3 inches of snow fell last night & this morning quite winterey cleared of & was quite pleasant in afternoon & evening I did my choars choared round the office shut up at 8 & went to bed about 10 nearly sick, A Scotchman had a concert at Methodist Church this evening & Walla went.
“25th Saturday A fine pleasant day I did my choars choared round closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 sick Nelson stayed here and Emma went to McKellips & stayed round there.
“26th Sunday A cloudy damp disagreeable day & night I choared round some went up to farm & fixed sheep howel etc choared round went to bed about 9 nearly sick.
“27th Monday pretty fine cool weather for November I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick & worne out.
“28th Tuesday fine cool weather with an inch or two of snow on the ground I did my choars choared round closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick.”
