Hiram E. Leonard Diary, September 14 - 20, 1870
“14th Wednesday a fine day but cloudy & a heavy shower towards night & in evening I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 sick Fair at Aurora commenced yesterday.
“15th Thursday some cloudy & damp & muddy I did my choars was at the office all day a choaring round, cloased up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 nearly sick many went to the Fair [in margin] Charles Owen & Ed Mack got home from Iowa today.
“16th Friday Some cloudy & damp but a pretty good good day I did my choars was at the office all day choared round and closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 nearly sick.
“17th Saturday Some cloudy in morning but a fine day & evening I did my choars was at the office all day & choared round closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 nearly sick & lonely.
“18th Sunday rather a fine day & quite warm in middle of day with a fine cool air, cool in morning & at night I did my choars & started with D Kenyon about 10 ½ for Hensies Mill to get some wichhasle, and got back ¼ before 2 pretty tiard choared round & went to bed about 9 tiard & about sick.
“19th Monday fine warm dry weather for Sept I did my choars was at the office all day a choaring & getting my meals cloased up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 nearly sick & lonely as no one is here.
“20th Tuesday rather fine weather, some cloudy & damp I did my choars was at the office all day a choaring etc closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 nearly sick & verry lonely.”
