Hiram E. Leonard Diary, April 6 - 12, 1870
“6th Wednesday fine weather a drying up fast I did my choars was at the office all day fixing PO returns shut up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick & worne out.
“7th Thursday fine pleasant weather & drying fast I did my choars was at the store all the time shut up at about 8 & went to bed about 9 or 9 ½ nearly sick Hoyt Brown came & eat supper here at my house & went to Cottage Hill to Sarah.
“8th Friday fine weather some cool drying fast I did my choars was at the office all the time shut up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ sick Frank Brown was here and eat dinner & went to Cottage Hill at night to see Sarah his sister.
“9th Saturday fine weather for April some cloudy I did my choars at store was here all the time shut up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick & tiard.
“10th Sunday A fine day & warm with a cool air & some cloudy some appearance of showers, I did my choars eat breckfust went up to the farm & back wrote some etc went to bed about 9 nearly sick, Caroline went to meeting at evening.
“11th Monday rather fine weather for April I did my choars was at the office all day & tiard about shut up at 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out [in margin] George Sidwell came back from Klines.
“12th Tuesday A fine warme day I did my choars was at office all day shut up at 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick Griffeth worked from ¼ past 7 & quit at 3 in afternoon & went home to graft some & helped him tare down the cubboard & put it up [in margin] Wm Griffin worked here.”
