Hiram E. Leonard Diary, April 27 - May 3, 1870
“27th Wednesday fine weather but dry I did my choars at the store & choared round lathed some etc closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed 9 ½ sick & tiered out.
“28th Thursday fine dry weather I did my choars at the store choared round lathed some etc closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick & worne out.
“29th Friday fine dry weather I did my choars at the store lathed some & choared round round some closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick & worne out.
“30th Saturday fine for April I did my choars at store choared round lathed some etc plastered some, closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out Nelson Stone & others stole my dog & put him in Warner pig pen I suppose as Warner found him there a Sunday morning [in margin] Nelson Stone shut up my dog tonight.
“May 1st Sunday A fine pleasant day & evening I did my choars was round home the most of the day I went up to Jerry Dadys in morning & called at Warners barn to look for my dog Warner found the dog in his pig pen soon after I was there & came down & told me, Caroline & Wallas went to heare a lecture this evening & came back about 9 & we all went to bed tiard & sick.
“2nd Monday fine spring weather for May I did my choars I did my choars was at the office all day came home & shut up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick etc.
“3rd Tuesday fine weather for May I did my choars at store was a lathing some & choaring round shut up at 8 ½ and went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out etc.”
