Hiram E. Leonard Diary, November 2 - 8, 1870
“2nd Wednesday A fine pleasant day I did my choars was at the office a choaring round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 tiard & nearly sick, Kate Connel commenced carrying in my wood upstairs about 9 in the morning & Hanna helped in afternoon & they got the most of it up stairs Betsey carried up a few handfuls I piled my wood up, upstairs.
“3rd Thursday A most beautiful day I did my choars & finished pileing up my wood was round office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 tiard & nearly sick Kate & Hannah Connel finished carrying my wood up this morning was about an hour.
“4th Friday rather a cloudy day & rained in afternoon & evening I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9.
“5th Saturday A fine pleasant day most beautiful cloudy evening & damp, looked like rain I did my choars was at the office a choaring round all day closed up ¼ before 9 & went to bed about 9 ¼ tiard lonely & nearly sick Nelson Stone stayed all night.
“6th Sunday A cloudy damp morning & broak away in afternoon quite pleasant I did my choars was round the store all day a choaring & went to Barruses towards night come back & went to bed about 9 olcock tiard & nearly sick, Mrs Stone came home & she & Nelson stayed to supper She went to T Mannings about 4.
“7th Monday fine weather some cloudy I did my choars was round the office all day choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick & worne out Mrs Emma Anesworth came here about 10 ½ to work for me Mr Pelham brought her ______ T Butler was taken sick.
“8th Tuesday rather fine in forenoon but cloudy rained in afternoon I did my choars was round in forenoon closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick went to election & got back at 4 ½, Mr Whitney elected representative John Kline Sherriff, Doc Daniels Coroner.”
