Hiram E. Leonard Diary, July 1 - 7, 1869
“July 1st Thursday rather fine weather I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick & worne out with trouble etc Augustus Manning & Frank Grant came home from Chicago or somewhere.
“2nd Friday rather fine with a verry heavey shower in afternoon I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick etc news came out today that Augustus Manning & Frank Grant were married last August 18 but many think they were married yesterday or day before Caroline sick.
“3rd Saturday some cloudy & a shower I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick Caroline sick.
“4th Sunday rather a fine day but cloudy, I did my choars was at the house all day a choaring round & fixing fence was at office in evening came home & went to bed at 9 sick [in margin] Car sick.
“5th Monday rather fine weather but some cloudy I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out with trouble Eliza went to Geneva to the fourth with Abner Stone.
“6th Tuesday rather fine weather I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ and went to bed at 9 ½ sick & worne out.
“7th Wednesday fine for the season I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick & worne out with trouble.”
