Hiram E. Leonard Diary, April 1 - 7, 1869
“April 1st Thursday A snow stormey day & a pretty tough day for April I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick.
“2nd Friday A cold raw day with the ground covered with snow I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out with Sister.
“3rd Saturday rather a fine day but cool I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out with trouble.
“4th Sunday A fine pleasant with a cool air I did my choars went to the office about 10, called at Mr Kenyons came back & choared round the house wrot some & red some went to the office in evening came home & went to bed at 9 nearly sick.
“5th Monday rather fine but cool, the roads drying fast I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ¼ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out with trouble [in margin] My ________ a calf by her side this evening.
“6th Tuesday fine cool weather I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out with trouble.
“7th Wednesday rather fine today & warm I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly & worne out with trouble.”
