Preserving and presenting Warrenville History since 1980

The purpose of the Warrenville Historical Society is to bring together those interested in Warrenville's history, and to collect, preserve and display objects and documents that illustrate that history. The Historical Society is a self-supporting not-for-profit organization. The Warrenville Historical Society was organized in 1980 and the Society opened the Warrenville Historical Museum in 1984. Space was provided for the Museum in one room of  the Greek Revival Style Albright Building through the generosity of the City of Warrenville, interest groups, businesses and individuals. The museum now encompasses the entire building. The Museum is supported by the Warrenville Historical Society Membership, donations, fund raisers, and the Warrenville Museum Guild, as well as a grant from the City of Warrenville.

Warrenville Historical Society Inclusivity Statement

Through our collection practices, exhibitions and programs, the Warrenville Historical Society works to be a space to amplify the multitude of voices that make up Warrenville’s past and present and strive for inclusive and equity-based practices.

As we work to center, equity, inclusion and accessibility in our institution, we pledge to focus all of work through these lenses and undertake the following steps:

1-Expand our work to better include the voices and cultures that were present in this area before the Warren family arrived in 1833.

2-Conduct outreach to all areas of Warrenville to better represent and serve the diverse population that contributes to our community.

3-Expand our collecting policies, and the use of our collection in exhibitions and programs, to ensure a variety of voices are represented, and have access to and inclusion in what our institution preserves and displays.

Museums are vital sites of cultural and community identify formation and expression. We take our role seriously as an educational and inspirational leader to ensure that our work allows for all Warrenville community members, past and present, to see themselves in our work.
