The Warrenville Historical Society and the Mexican Cultural Center DuPage are hosting an alebrije workshop. The MCC have brought the exhibit Alebrijes: Creatures of a Dream World project to Cantigny Park this summer. Six artists created 48 alebrijes, mythical creature sculptures, bringing this unique Mexican art to DuPage County. Through a grant from the City of Warrenville Hotel Tax Fund Grant we will be hosting a workshop with alebrije artist Edgar Israel Camargo Reyes on Thursday, June 30th from 6-7:30pm at the Warrenville Historical Society. Join us to learn how these paper-mache pieces are built and the cultural heritage behind these amazing creatures.
