Hiram E. Leonard Diary, October 28 - November 3, 1874
“28th Wednesday A cloudy damp day & rained some quite a heavey shower in the evening I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold Mr Wests son was married tonight about 9 oclock to a Miss _______.
“29th Thursday fine cold dry weather I did my choars was round home all day closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold & the rheumatism Asel Gates barn etc burned up ketched from his carlessness with fire near straw stack.
“30th Friday fine cold dry weather I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold.
“31st Saturday fine cold dry weather I did my choars was round home all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold etc A T Jones mooved into his tonight before he finished his house.
“November 1st Sunday A fine cold pleasant day froze verry hard last night more mild today I did my choars went to A T Jones in forenoon & was going home in afternoon went to bed at 9 about sick with a bad cold & the rheumatism etc.
“2nd Monday fine cool dry pleasant weather I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold.
“3rd Tuesday fine pleasant day with a cool air I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold I went to Junction to election.”
