Hiram E. Leonard Diary, September 4 - 10, 1873
“4th Thursday fine dry weather verry dry cool morning & evening & hot in middle of day I did my choars choared round the office some closed up about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick & tiered out Dutch camp meeting commensed today in the ________ woods.
“5th Friday cool morning & evening & hot in middle of day verry dry for the season I did my choars choared round the office some closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½.
“6th Saturday A fine day but some cool & cloudy I did my choars choared round some closed up about 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick & tiered out.
“7th Sunday A fine cool day with some clouds & verry dry for the season I did my choars was at the farm & brought down some apples etc went to bed about 9 nearly sick & tiered out.
“8th Monday fine dry weather with hot day & cool nights I did my choars choared round the office some closed up at 8 & went to bed at about 9 nearly sick Connell commenced digging my cistern, Farr commenced at Aurora.
“9th Tuesday verry dry weather the ground extremely dry but pleasant with cool nights & hot days, the thurmometer standing at 80 degrees or more above zero I did my choars choared round the office sum closed up at 8 and went to bed about 9 ¼ nearly sick My red cow went to bull Connell & Jonathan Pollard stoned my cistern mostly up.
“10th Wednesday fine weather but hot & dry I did my choars choared some & helped on cistern some closed up about 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick Connell & Pollard finished stoning cistern & put on one coat of plaster today & whealed some dirt from cistern.”
