Hiram E. Leonard Diary, July 31 - August 6, 1873
“31st Thursday fine dry weather I did my choars choared round the office some closed up about 8 ½ & went to bed about 10 nearly sick with a cold & the rheumatism A shower tonight Bishop Bartholomews father died this forenoon.
“August 1st Friday fine weather with a shower tonight I did my choars choared round the office some & went to bed about 10 & shut up at 8 ½ was about sick Emma Stone went to Wheaton tonight by stage & rail road, there was a dance at Swarthouts at the Kriner house tonight.
“2nd Saturday rather a fine day but some cloudy & looks like a shower toward night I did my choars choared round the office some closed up at about 9 & went to bed about 10 nearly sick with a cold etc Samuel Bartholomew Bishop Bartholomews father was buried today at or near White Hall.
“3rd Sunday A fine day with some clouds & a cool air I did my choars choared some at the other place was at home the most of the day went to bed about 9 John Coon and Mrs Cavanaw were baptised this afternoon by the Methodist minister Elder Adam Jerome & other were tight I went up to see Wadlows dam etc this afternoon.
“4th Monday pretty fine hot weather & dry I did my choars choared round the office some closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & about sick made super.
“5th Tuesday fine dry weather I did my choars choared round some at the store closed up about 8 ½ and went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick & tiered out made soper.
“6th Wednesday fine weather but some showers I did my choars choared round the office some, closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ or ten nearly sick.”
