Hiram E. Leonard Diary, July 3 - 9, 1873
“3rd Thursday fine showerey weather & pretty wet several hard showers I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed at about 10 tiard & sick.
“4th Friday A heavey shower in the morning about 7 or 8 and another about one in afternoon a muddy disagreeable day for the 4th I did my choars choared round some was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at about 12 nearly sick & worne out Caroline & Wallace went down to Naperville in the stage about 12 ½ to the 4th & got back 15 minutes before 11 at night I had to set up till she came & went to bed between 11 & 12 Emma Stone went to Naperville in day & ________ hard in the evening got home to near 6.
“5th Saturday A pretty fine day but muddy I did my choars choared round the office some closed up about 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ tiard & about sick Joseph Weideman came here today was at Danby at the 4th Emma Stone got home today at 6 in morning.
“6th Sunday A cloudy cool morning but rather a fine day I did my choars choared round up to the place some & went to bed about 9 nearly sick etc the folks went to meeting in afternoon.
“7th Monday fine weather for the season I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed about 10 nearly sick & tiered out.
“8th Tuesday pretty fine weather for the season I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed about 10 nearly sick with a cold etc T Watson commenced cutting my hay.
“9th Wednesday fine hay weather & cool I did my choars choared round the office some closed up at about 8 & went to bed about 10 nearly sick.”
