Hiram E. Leonard Diary, May 1 - 7, 1873
“May 1st Thursday pretty cold raw weather for May I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 and went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick with rheumatism & a cold etc.
“2nd Friday rather a fine forenoon but rained some in afternoon & evening and a thunder shower with a hard shower of hail & rain about 6 & 7 oclock in afternoon the ground was covered white I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 and went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick with the rheumatism & a cold Walla sick.
“3rd Saturday I did my choars rather a fine warm day I choared round some Jont Pollard helped fence one of the Brown lotts & I closed up about 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with the rheumatism & a cold [in margin] fence the North Brown lott.
“4th Sunday A fine pleasant day & quite warm I did my choars choared round at the farm some etc fixed my beef at home some wrote some etc choared round some went to bed about 9 nearly sick etc Willa sick and Caroline about sick.
“5th Monday rather fine cool grass weather & wet I did my choars choared round some closed up about 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold & the rheumatism.
“6th Tuesday cool raw wet weather I did my choars & choared round some closed up about 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold & rheumatism.
“7th Wednesday cool wet weather good for grass I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ½.”
