Hiram E. Leonard Diary, April 17 - 23, 1873
“17th Thursday A cool cloudy disagreeable day & snowed conciderable in afternoon I did my choars choared round some closed up about 8 and went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold [in margin] it snowed conciderable during the afternoon.
“18th Friday A cold muddy disagreeable day I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold.
“19th Saturday rather a fine cool day but muddy I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ sick with a cold etc.
“20th Sunday rather a fine cloudy day with a cold air & looked some like a storm or showers I did my choars choared & worked up to the other place all the forenoon called at Dadys as I came home he was _______ came home choared some wrote etc went to bed about 9 tiard & nearly sick with a cold etc [in margin] a cold backward spring.
“21st Monday cold raw backward weather for the season I did my choars choared round some closed up about 8 & went to bed about 9 tiard nearly sick with a cold.
“22nd Tuesday cold backward weather I did my choars choared round the house some closed up about 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold.
“23rd Wednesday cold raw disagreeable weather I did my choars choared round the store some closed up about 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ about sick.”
