Hiram E. Leonard Diary, April 11 - 17, 1872
“11th Thursday A fine cool windy dry day I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed between 9 & 10 tiard & nearly sick with a cold [in margin] Henry Rogers mooved his things to my house & mooved today on to the place.
“12th Friday A very windy cool day the wind blew tremendiously all day & night I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at about 10 tiard & nearly sick with a cold.
“13th Saturday A cool windy day & verry dry I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed about 10 tiard & nearly sick with a cold [in margin] Mrs Laura Bostwick & ______ boy and Alice Waterman came here a visating & stayed all night.
“14th Sunday A cool pleasant day I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 went to bed between 9 & 10 nearly sick & tiered out & sick I went up to the place and cleaned out the stables watered my cattle & helped Henry Rogers clean out the paster well etc.
“15th Monday A cool raw day & snowed conciderable I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick with a cold.
“16th Tuesday rather a fine day but muddy I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 and went to bed at 9 tiard & nearly sick with a cold.
“17th Wednesday rather fine but cool for April I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 and went to bed at 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick with a cold Emma Stone went away this morning to Lombard to Clarks.”
