Hiram E. Leonard Diary, February 7 - 13, 1872
“7th Wednesday fine weather for winter but cloudy I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 10 or 11. Ann Eliza is verry sick and is a little more easy bad off the Doctor came today & said she was no worse Mrs Anesworth left D Kenyons today.
“8th Thursday fine weather for winter but cloudy I did my choars choared round all day was about sick and uneasy about the baby Ann Eliza closed up at 8 & went to bed about 10 sick Doct came today & thought she was no worse.
“9th Friday fine for winter I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 10 or 11 sick the little girle was dangerously sick [in margin] the doct came.
“10th Saturday fine mild winter weather & cloudy I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 10 or so nearly sick & sorry for the little _______ bird or angel Ann Eliza as she was verry sick [in margin] the Doct came and the girle was about the same.
“11th Sunday A fine cloudy morning & snow squalled some through the day & evening I did my choars choared round some & went to bed at about 10 nearly sick and in trouble about Ann Eliza as she seemed about the same [in margin] Doct Hiett came.
“12th Monday fine weather for the winter I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 and went to bed at 10 nearly sick the baby as no better but appeared some more easy was terable sick [in margin] the Doct came & William McNelly came about 2 ½ the baby was verry sick indeed.
“13th Tuesday A verry cold Windy Blustering day a tremendious tedious & night to be out & cold I did my choars cloared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed about 10 nearly sick & worn out by haveing the little girle so verry sick [in margin] The Doct was here Docter says she is better but I think she is onely a little more easy.”
