Hiram E. Leonard Diary, November 14 - 20, 1872
“14th Thursday A cold cloudy snow squalley day quite like winter I did my choars choared round some closed up about 8 and went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick with a cold Joseph horse taken sick.
“15th Friday rather a cold snow squally day & a conciderable like winter I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard and nearly sick with a cold Ben carried the mail.
“16th Saturday rather a cold day but more pleasant I did my choars cloased up at 8 and went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold John R Grant came tonight.
“17th Sunday rather a fine day but some cloudy with a cool air some snow on the ground I did my choars was up to the farm a part of the day went to bed about 9 nearly sick with a cold John R Grant was here tonight and let me have a deed of his ½ of the H Brown lotts & I paid him 60 dollars.
“18th Monday pretty good fall weather but cold I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 and went to bed at 9 sick [in margin] horse disease.
“19th Tuesday fine winter weather I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed at nearly sick with a cold old Mr Selenharke got killed by the railroad engine on the track.
“20th Wednesday rather fine weather but cool I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold.”
