Hiram E. Leonard Diary, October 17 - 23, 1872

17th Thursday  fine weather for the season  I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick.

18th Friday  fine weather for October but dry  I did my choars choared round some closed up at about 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick.

19th Saturday  fine cool dry weather  I did my choars choared round the house some closed up about 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick.

20th Sunday  A fine pleasant day & quite warm in the middle of day  I did my choars in the morning eat breckfust and started for Batavia about 10 with my folks got to S Billings about 11-3/4 oclock  Stayed there and eat dinner about 3oclock went round town some called up to Mr Manns and started for home about 4 got home about 6 in evening did my choars & went to bed about 8 nearly sick  I had T Jones horse & buggy.

21st Monday  A fine cool dry day for Oct.  I did my choars choared round some closed up about 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick & tiered out.

22nd Tuesday  A cloudy damp morning & mist a little but cleared off about 9 and was a fine day & evening  I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ sick  William Carpenter and Dr. Pratts daughter were married today & went from Pratts to Chicago & then to Bloomington & St Louis, Mo & home by Quincy & Dallas City.

23rd Wednesday  A fine cool dry day  I did my choars choared round some closed up about 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick with a cold  Henry Rogers mooved from my house to where Ed Rogers lived mooved family & goods  John Standage wife had her fourth child born.”
