Hiram E. Leonard Diary, September 27 - October 3, 1871
“27th Wednesday fine weather but cold & dry I did my choars choared round the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 tiard & nearly sick [in margin] my red cow went to bull today.
“28th Thursday A fine cool dry day I did my choars choared round the office some closed up at 8 ½ and went to bed at 9 tiard & nearly sick.
“29th Friday fine pleasant weather but cool & dry I did my choars choared round the office closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at tiard & nearly sick [in margin] Mrs Stone came down tonight The Wheaton folks from Wheaton & Sung let people in at __________.
“30th Saturday fine pleasant day but dry & quite warme I did my choars choared round the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 nearly sick & tiard [in margin] Mrs Stone was here.
“October 1st Sunday A fine pleasant day verry dry & quite warm I did my choars choared round the office some & put up some wine went to bed at 9 nearly sick, Mrs Stone was here & went to Hudsons to get a horse to take her to Simpson to see Nelson.
“2nd Monday fine cool dry weather verry dry I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick & tiared out [in margin] Mrs Stone went back to Wheaton.
“3rd Tuesday fine & verry dry weather cool I did my choars choared round the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 nearly sick.”
