Hiram E. Leonard Diary, August 9 - 15, 1871

9th Wednesday  fine hot dry weather  I did my choars choared round the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 nearly sick  Mrs E Anesworth com to sew some for us  R Manning went to Chicago to get goods [in margin] E Answorth came here to work a sewing P Graves went to see Jessie Graves sick at ______________.

10th Thursday  A fine hot plessant day  I did my choars choared round the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 nearly sick & tiard  My white cheeked heifer went to bull.  P Graves came back from Grovers to see Jessee Graves he was verry sick rained tonight a little  P Graves got notes of Jesse Graves.

11th Friday  A fine hot dry pleasant day  I did my choars choared round the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 tiard & nearly sick  Griffeth came about 3 oclock to go to Grovers to see Jess Graves & carry Mrs Anesworth she had gone to her fathers he went after her & brought her her to go tomorrow & see Jessee Graves.

12th Saturday  A fine pleasant day with a cool air  I did my choars choared round the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 tiard & nearly sick  Mrs E Anesworth went up home today instead of yesterday & Griffeth went & brought her back to go tomorrow & see Jessie Graves, My 2 year old cow went to bull today.

13th Sunday  A fine hot pleasant day with some clouds, I choared round some went to the farm wrote some etc went to bed about 9 nearly sick  Wm P Griffeth came here about 5 & eat breckfust & started at 6 ¼ to carry Mrs E Anesworth to Mr Grovers to see Jessee Graves he was verry sick [in margin] I bought Tarts sow today.

14th Monday  fine pleasant hot dry weather  I did my choars choared round the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 tiard & nearly sick [in margin] R Manning is a marking goods & commencing to sell some.

15th Tuesday  fine pleasant weather & hot  I did my choars choared round the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 nearly sick & worne out [in margin] my lined back heifer calved today, this afternoon, P Graves satrted to get Jessee Graves this afternoon.”
