Hiram E. Leonard Diary, July 5 - 11, 1871
“5th Wednesday A fine day with some showers I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick they took up the men that fought at Naperville and fined them fifty dollars each & bound them over.
“6th Thursday some cloudy & damp I did my choars was at the office all day a choaring round closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 tiard & nearly sick the lawyers on the county seat law suit closed up their arguments today & the court taking two weeks to make up his mind & gives a decision two weeks from today.
“7th Friday rather a fine day but showers in the morning I did my choars was at the office all day choaring closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 nearly sick.
“8th Saturday rather a fine day some cloudy I did my choars was round the office all day choaring closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick [in margin] A verry hot day Curtises folks came to Warrens.
“9th Sunday A fine hot day but some cloudy I did my choars was round home all day made some wine etc went to bed about 9 nearly sick.
“10th Monday fine hot weather & some cloudy I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 nearly sick & worne out.
“11th Tuesday fine hot weather & a getting dry I did my choars was at the office all day a choaring round closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick.”
