Hiram E. Leonard Diary, July 12 - 18, 1871
“12th Wednesday fine hot & good hay weather I did my choars was at the office all day a choaring closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick.
“13th Thursday fine hay weather but verry hot I did my choars was at the office all day a choaring closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick.
“14th Friday fine hot hay weather I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick.
“15th Saturday fine hot hay weather I did my choars choared round the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick George Crosiers wife had a child today, after being married 6 ½ months Mrs Stone came here in the stage & stayed here all night etc.
“16th Sunday A fine hot day some cloudy & a light shower heavey showers round I did my choars choared round the house some & laid down went to see my corn & get my cow after supper went to bed about 10 nearly sick, Mrs Stone was here & road to Wm Simpsoms with Cromer & Nelsen brought her back & she stayed here round all night.
“17th Monday A fine day but hot & some cloudy I did my choars was choaring round the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick Mrs Stone was here, Mr Webster & wife came to D Kenyons on a visit.
“18th Tuesday fine hay weather pretty hot, I did my choars was round the office all day a choaring closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 nearly sick [in margin] Mrs Answorth left D Kenyon for a while some herd talk.”
