“25th Wednesday A fine day but cool & dry I did my choars choared round the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 tiard & nearly sick Caroline received a registered letter from Eliza McNelly mailed at Oct 20th 1871 with money & news of the marriage of Eliza McNelly & Christ Galaxian on the 18.
“26th Thursday fine cool weather & rained tonight I did my choars choared round the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 tiard nearly sick.
“27th Friday A pretty cool windy day had rained I did my choars choared round the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 tiard nearly sick.
“28th Saturday A fine cold morning I did my choars choared round the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 tiard & nearly sick & worn out [in margin] Caroline went to Naperville with Kenyon.
“29th Sunday A fine cool day with some clouds I did my choars was round the house all day helping Caroline pack her trunk to go to Iowa I was busy we went to bed about 9 we were all about sick [in margin] Emma Stone came here from Wheaton today, night with G Hagaman.
“30th Monday A fine cool dry day I did my choars choared round the office all day cloased up at 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 tiard & nearly sick Emma Stone commenced work for me this morning [in margin] Caroline started for Iowa today at 8 ½ in morning with the _________.
“31st Tuesday A rainey damp morning & rainey day held up near night & cleared off I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick.”
