Hiram E. Leonard Diary, January 11 - 17, 1871

11th Wednesday  fine winter weather  I did my choars was at the office & house all day a choaring closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick.

12th Thursday  fine weather for January  I did my choars was at the office & house choaring round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick.

13th Friday  A foggy misty rainey day & began to snow near night & stormed all night pretty hard  I did my choars was round the office & house all day a choaring etc closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick & worne out  Frank was here all the week.

14th Saturday  A pretty tedious snow stormey day with some rain & hail not cold but blustering  I did my choars was round the office all day & house closed up about 9 & soon went to bed  Frank Wellman here.

15th Sunday  A foot of snow or more on the ground & stormy more or less with snow hail & rain all the forenoon but not cold  I did my choars was round a shoveling snow and choaring all day and went to bed about 9 nearly sick  Frank Wellman was here.

16th Monday  rather fine for winter snow some about sixteen inches of snow on the ground  I did my choars closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick.

17th Tuesday  fine winter weather but hard getting round  I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9.”
