Hiram E. Leonard Diary, September 30 - October 6, 1869
“30th Thursday rather fine weather I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick & worne out.
“October 1st Friday A fine morning but some cloudy rained some towards night & evening, I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick & worne out, Caroline and Eliz Ressegui went to Batavia got back after dark I took the wagon to T Jonses & then went to store [in margin] Caroline went to Batavia teeth fixed.
“2nd Saturday rather a cloudy muddy day pleasant evening I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ about sick Caroline & Eliza went to Resseguies a visating in afternoon.
“3rd Sunday A cloudy damp forenoon but more pleasant in middle of day I did my choars choared round the most of the day went to office in evening came home & went to bed at 9 tiard & nearly sick Caroline took Eliza to Danby Emma Stone went to Wheaton with them & back with Cal they got back a little before night L V Resseguie went to Naperville.
“4th Monday rather a fine day I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick etc Caroline & Emma Stone went to Batavia & Ralph Garth drove for them they got home about 4 oclock.
“5th Tuesday A fine day I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick.
“6th Wednesday rather fine I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick.”
