Hiram E. Leonard Diary, August 26 - September 1, 1869
“26th Thursday fine weather I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick etc.
“27th Friday fine weather some cloudy & ____________ at night I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick.
“28th Saturday rained some & was cloudy I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick.
“29th Sunday A fine cool day I did my choars was round the house the most of the day a choaring etc was at the office in the evening came home at 8 & went to bed at 9 sick Caroline & Eliza came home & Barruses wife & the two oldest children & Emma Barras stayed & the others went home about 2 oclock, Ed Wright called & Ben Hoath called Elezer & Abner came Jerome Bearsdly Eleze went to St. Charles.
“30th Monday rather fine for Aug I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out with trouble.
“31st Tuesday fine weather but windy I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick Perry & Emma Perry went to Burlington Iowa to meet Procter took the cars at Aurora.
“September 1st Wednesday A fine warme day I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick Ada Bostwick & family & Ada Foster & wife started for Iowa about 11 oclock, Mr Perry got home from Burlington tonight & says that Mr. Procter & Emma were married today.”
