Hiram E. Leonard Diary, August 12 - 18, 1869
“12th Thursday A fine day I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out with trouble Mrs Wood mooved to Batavia to live.
“13th Friday fine weather for the season I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out with trouble O A. Procter came tonight with horses & waggon to to Derrys & stayed [in margin] O A Procter came with team.
“14th Saturday fine weather but cloudy & dim in the morning I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick [in margin] _____________.
“15th Sunday rather fine weather but cloudy & windy I did my choars was at home all day fixed stock & choared round the most of the day went to the office in the evening came home & went to bed about 9 nearly sick Caroline went to meeting in evening.
“16th Monday rather fine weather I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ and went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out John Duc & Charly stayed at Jerry Pollards last night & telegraphed to J Whipple today to come out & he got out the papers for O A Procter & they watched for Procter amost all Monday night but did not see him [in margin] O A Procter was at Perry & Whipple tried to see him.
“17th Tuesday rather fine weather I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick Procter went to Davis.
“18th Wednesday fine weather & hot I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick Resseguie came stacking oats.”
