Hiram E. Leonard Diary, July 29 - August 4, 1869
“29th Thursday Some cloudy but rather fine for haying I did my choars was at the office all day, came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½.
“30th Friday fine hay weather I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out.
“31st Saturday fine hay day I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out Caroline & Sarah Resseguie went to Wheaton to the circus etc children went [in margin] Sarah Papin babe died.
“August 1st Sunday A fine day but some cloudy I did my choars was at the house all day & put a pump in the paster well was at office three times came home & went to bed at 9 nearly sick.
“2nd, 3rd & 4th Monday Tuesday & Wednesday fine weather for haying I did my choars was at the office all day came home at about 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & Procter came a Tuesday morning & stayed till Friday Said to leave a Friday [in margin] Procter O. Acora Tuesday morning.”
