Hiram E. Leonard Diary, November 4 - 10, 1869
“4th Thursday rather fine weather I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ and went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out rained.
“5th Friday rather fine weather I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick.
“6th Saturday fine cool day I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick & George was sick.
“7th Sunday A cool pleasant day I did my choars was round all day at home a choaring hooped 2 barrels etc went to office at noon & in the evening went to bed before 9 tiard & nearly sick Mrs came & worked our butter Dr H S Potters widow she that was Adaline Newton was buried at Danby today her remains were brought from Omaha Nebraska [in margin] Mrs Stone came here.
“8th Monday rather a raw day I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick Mrs Lewen she that was Susan Bartholomew died this morning at Shell Rock.
“9th Tuesday rather a fine day I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick She that was Susan Bartholomews remains were brought from Shell Rock.
“10th Wednesday rather a fine day I did choars was at the store all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick She that was Susan Bartholomew’s buried here today Warners wife had a son born tonight.”
