Hiram E. Leonard Diary, October 21 - 27, 1869
“21st Thursday fine cool weather I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick & lonesome.
“22nd Friday rather a cold cloudy raw day & spit snow at night I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick Barrass mooved his family over to the parsonage house today in afternoon.
“23rd Saturday A cold raw morning & the ground covered with an inch or two of snow I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed about 10 nearly sick George Sidwell got back about 10 oclock this morning & stayed with me all night, Mrs Stone worked at my house a part of the day.
“24th Sunday A cool pleasant morning but a raw day I did my choars was at the house all day a choaring round & fixing fence round garden etc was at store in evening came home & went to bed at 9 sick George stayed with me.
“25th Monday rather a rough day & snow in evening I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & tiered out, Mrs Jerry Pollard had a son born today.
“26th Tuesday a cold raw morning with the ground covered with snow I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worn out.
“27th Wednesday cold raw weather I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick.”
