Albright Family of Artists

The Warrenville Museum & Art Gallery is excited to be opening a new exhibit on Sunday, June 24th featuring the lives and artwork of Adam Emory Albright and his twin sons, Ivan and Malvin. Adam moved his studio to Warrenville in 1924, purchasing the 1858 Methodist Church building, now the home of the Warrenville Museum. The family bought a home at Second Street and Warenville Road and Ivan and Malvin soon joined their father working in the Warrenville studio.

Adam was already well known for his impressionistic style of painting country children and used the DuPage River as a perfect backdrop to paint many local children. Ivan and Malvin quickly earned their own notoriety for their work, winning many art show prizes. Ivan gained even more fame when his work was featured in the Hollywood movie “The Picture of Dorian Gray.” Join the Museum to learn more about the family and see original works and digital reproductions which will be on display through September 2018. Works by the Museum’s Albright-inspired Artists-in-Residency will also be on display. This exhibit and the Artist-in-Residency Program are made possible by a City of Warrenville Hotel Motel Tax Fund Grant.
